Dream Killah

Today I had probably the only day off I'll have in the foreseeable future and I spent it sleeping. Well, I was in my bed reflecting on life and the crazy-ass dream I had last night. It was a multi-part production.

First there was a wedding. It was mine. Except it was a little chaotic, as in unorganized and poorly-attended. And, horror of all horrors, THERE WAS NO GROOM. Not that the groom wasn't late or we couldn't find him, but HE CEASED TO EXIST. My DAD was up there with me. I'm cringing in humiliation even as I write this. So why was there a wedding? I have no idea.

Then, it was like a crossover episode with Grey's Anatomy, Izzie, Dr. Bailey, and George were there and there was a dress involved but the details escape me. And I was Izzie and Izzie was me. And also, I was trying to escape by going up and down endless stairwells.

Oh, and then I was in the front seat of a red sports car, well on my way to second base with an unidentified male. At a loss for words, I am.

I'm stuck on the "I had a wedding but no groom" part. What on earth could that possibly mean? WHY at my subconsious wedding, was there no groom? That better not be a sign of the future. Well, except for the making out in an expensive car business. That part we can keep.

Train Wreck (followed by happier holiday post)

I am home, folks. Praise Jeebus.

A lot of you (ok, nobody) asked how that thing went, and, to put it mildly, it was disastrous. I showed up 15 minutes late to the interview--thanks a bundle, inept drivers and pouring rain--and she basically was unimpressed from there...you know how PR people are. Not quite friendly except when they have to "network" and even then they don't exactly give off raging tides of goodwill towards mankind. So, yeah, even though I gave what I thought were amazing answers to her questions and having secured a great word-of-mouth recommendation from Hot Boss, I still sulked out of there embarrassed, forlorn, and probably without a spring internship, thinking, "I suck." What a way to end my semester...thank God a few hours later I was on an airplane headed home.

I have, then, resolved to use this time off to resolve the gaping holes in my career strategy. I'm going to work on things like being aggressive and proactive, following up, making and keeping contacts, and figuring out, once and for all, just what the bloody hell I want to do with my life after college. I feel like Bridget Jones, except I already have a diary (and you guys, of course).

I still feel rather slacker-y and dumb being here without any prospects on the horizon. Even the fact that the holidays are my favorite time of year can't keep me from feeling like a partial, if not total, failure. Like I'm behind or something, like I'm not legit...sometimes I think that I don't really have the chops to make it in the business and all my previous gigs have just been luck. Sigh. It's the end of the year, I suppose, that's making me all reflective of the past year, and how I wish some things could have gone differently in order to yield a better outcome or at least make me feel better about myself now...does that make sense? I want to be better, of course, I just can't quite figure out how. It's a control thing--figuring out what I can change and what I can't. Maybe I'll get a self-help book; I tend to wander around aimlessly with nothing but an idea and a song in my head, instead of actually having a solid game plan.

Ooh, speaking of games, here's how I can cheer myself up: I'm going to a Pistons game next month. I haven't been in years. God I can't wait...

Have we been making our Christmas lists and checking them twice, dears? A digital camera, both Kanye West's and Fall Out Boy's new CDs, and either season 5 of One Tree Hill or season 1 of the "Bernie Mac Show" are all on mine...please share! I'm doing Secret Santa with my sisters, like we do every year (yes there are only 3 of us. Shut up), but this year, we're thinking about adding Little Cousin to the circle. Could be fun. I always cheat on SS anyway, and buy both my sisters gifts. I can't help it, I absolutely LOVE giving gifts...

What could also be fun is spending hours at the mall, picking out presents, then driving through the snow, wrapping them up, then debating whether or not to put them under the tree now or wait until the 24th, and seeing my fam's faces when they open my (yet to be bought) super-cool gifts...OMG someone just put on the Temptations' Christmas CD, and the other day at CVS I heard "Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays" from N*SYNC's*** Christmas album, which I totally had, back in the day, ON CASSETTE, no less. I even had a dream that Justin (curly-haired JT, not buzz-cut JT) came home with me for the holidays. I HAVE to find that CD.

***Oh, God, I love N*SYNC...

Things I Cannot Wait For (besides the aforementioned, and besides presents)
-Hey Arnold Christmas episode
-the Rugrats Christmas epsode
-the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air Christmas episode
-Gossip Girl season 1 Christmas episode
-pecan pie
-Santa hats
-parties
-Celtics @ LA Lakers on Christmas
-annual family party games (don't hate)

I am so in my happy place right now.

PS: to any of our Jewish/non-Christmas celebrating brethren, my holiday greetings extend to you as well. Come one, come all, I say :)

A Computerly Update

I am having a cruddy day.
I kind of can't stand the other interns(s) at Big Sports Network, for example. That, plus a host of other annoyances have steadily plagued me since I woke up on this day that the Lord hath made. The most prominent being my poor computer needing a new hard drive. Now, I don't know that much about computers, but a hard drive seems like a Pretty Big Deal in the big scheme of computers. If the cost is any indicator of importance, a hard drive is waaay up there. But here's the gag: all my stuff will be lost, huh? Tell it to me straight, I can take it (not). Has this ever happened to anyone? Any encounters with that blue screen o'death? What happened, was it a huge hassle to get all your info back? I don't think I put everything on a flash drive (it was way upstairs and I was way downstairs, ok? You know how it is). I'm basically screwed [fucked] huh?

On the plus side, the other night I had a dream that I was about to get a massage (and probably more than that, who am I kidding) from a male escort. I kid ye not. Of course I woke up before we got to the good stuff (damned sunshine). I can't get any in my own dreams!

This can't be life.

A Sign that I Might be Overworked

Will write more later, for now exhausted. Had to put the store (VS) back to rights after the Big Sale last night-turned-morning. Wanted to slit my wrists; will never get tricked into taking 9pm to what was supposed to be 5:30am but turned into 8am shift EVER AGAIN. But will this prevent me from going straight from TV Station tomorrow to shop at the very mall at which I toil? No, as you may have guessed, it will not.

Anyway, I could be losing my mind: the other night, I had a dream that Amy Winehouse was blowing crack-laced smoke in my kitchen, and that my mother (my mother! Who has never had anything stronger than an Apple Martini in her life) was smoking a joint in the basement.

Disturbing in every sense of the word.

Hanging On, but Just Barely

This is how I look and feel right about now.

I haves a headache, my legs still hurt, and I still have loads to do before my head can come anywhere near a pillow.

Spent most of the day at TV Station stuffing those damned envelopes again, and this time without the pleasure of Sarcastic Intern's company; she's in LA with her boyfriend. Must be muthafukkin nice.

You'll have to excuse me once again, I really am exhausted and my room looks like the Titanic after the that nasty run-in with the iceberg.

I had another celebrity man-candy dream again last night, this time about Lil' Wayne. He was really nice and he gave me a ride in his Hummer. And no, I didn't mean that as a sex euphemism or anything. For once.

People I barely know continue to say complimentary things about me because of the scholarship, which is really quite flattering. Apparently this is the first year this scholarship has ever been given out, which, in case you didn't know, makes me kind of a big deal. LOL. Just kidding.

I really do have work to do tonight; some stuff for The Paper and with my other internship for Local Record Label. Also, I work on Saturday and have to cover a downtown festival this weekend for TV Station. Whew! Didya catch all that?

I feel there will be another long letter-type post coming up soon. I haven't decided if I want to air that particular bit of proverbial dirty laundry on this blog yet.

That being said, I must bid y'all adieu for tonight, I'm pooped. Happy 4th of July, eat some barbecue and crack a brewsky in my honor (or, better yet, something with tequila. No drinky-poos for me until I get back to school, ha)!
eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeffffffffffeeeeeeeeeeeeertr

Whoops, sorry. Almost fell asleep sitting up. My bad. Leaving, now.

Loose Ends

When things wrap up or end in my life, I like them to be wrapped and tied neatly. I hate loose ends; they can either fascinate me or drive me bonkers. Like those books my mom gave me when I was younger where you could make up your own ending? I hated them with a passion. When I can't find something, I go crazy. Like, at school, I couldn't find my flatiron in the 12x12 space of my dorm room, and it was the most frustrating thing, ever (I still can't find it. That room was like a Black Hole for hair tools). And now, the same thing is happening: at work, there's a soundtrack that we play every day, seemingly. I like the songs on there, there's some Amy Winehouse, Corrinne Bailey Rae, and India Arie, plus the theme song from Grey's Anatomy (weird, right? I'd never heard the song without the show). Here in lies the problem, though; there are two songs I like enough to download, but I can't figure out the artist or title to either one! No one who works there knows, either (actually I don't think they care too much. I try to listen out for the lyrics to Google them, but nothing's coming up! There has never been a song that I liked that I couldn't find, and I will NOT be defeated by these two! But seriously, it's making me batty.

Last night I had a dream about Chris Brown. Of course I don't remember anything important, except for me looking up to see him standing there, looking just like this. Like, this picture, in the deliciously, taut, sweaty flesh. Yum-o. Needless to say, that was a good dream. I don't remember him saying anything. But we know I like them dumb and hot (ha).

I just lost my train of thought.

Oh, now I remember. My resolve was close to being shattered at work today. All these couples and ladies buying bridal lingerie and other sexy stuff kept coming in and fucking with my head. Like, enough so that I almost ducked behind the a panty display to text the Runner. WTF, right? Sometimes I am weak.

Big Boobs and One Arm

Get it? Because it's my 100th post! And also because I can be childish :)

The century mark came quickly. Maybe it's because blogging doesn't feel like work or an obligation, but something I truly love to do. So, cheers (but make mine a virgin, please). And here's to a hundred more!

On account of it being Memorial Day, we decided to boost the American economy by spending the day at this outdoor mall my mom found. 'Twas a hot Midwestern day, but we had fun, the whole family did. Dad sat down and listened to the live band while we did our dirty work, though. We didn't really buy much (well, I didn't), but it was a successful endeavor nonetheless. Since the mall was outside, people brought their dogs on leashes to walk around with. How many cute doggies we saw! It made me think of Charley, Dash, and Precious, of course. On our way out, a dog on a leash nuzzled our legs, and his owner, a cute guy with a European accent, was super-nice to us and asked us if we had a dog and whatnot. I didn't get to ask him what country he was from, but you could totally tell he wasn't from these parts. He was too nice.

I've been extremely materialistic lately in the fact that I can't stop browsing for stuff to buy online. Clothes-makeup-shoe-jewelry lust is slowly taking me over! But I figure it's harmless because I have no money to spend on these things...Lordy, that barbecue sure smells good. Scratch what I said about not enjoying being home!

I finally talked to BFF, yesterday and today, which is like, a record for us! We're already making plans for her to come visit me next year, I absolutely cannot wait. I haven't seen her since our high school graduation, which feels so long ago! Anyway, she told me about her relationship biz and I told her about mine. She had some good, albeit vague, advice for a problem (and a recurring, unsettling dream) that I've been having. She said, "Get over it." Short and sweet. But we know how I am about even the best advice...I'm optimistic, though. It's going to be a long, good summer.

"Buy You a Drank"-T-Pain

[So y'all will know what I'm listening to as I write (title explanation)]

Last night I had a dream about Beyonce. Y'all know I don't even like her like that, but this morning I woke up humming "Get Me Bodied." I also had a dream that I got a C in Spanish; in the words of Top Chef, I nearly had a stroke. When I woke up to check my transcripts online, though, I remembered that there's a hold on my account, thus making it impossible to check my grades. If I, heaven forbid, have any Cs, heads will roll. I've been having funky dreams lately, but they've been strangely un-fulfilling. Like, I wake up before me and dream dude kiss, or before Chris Brown gets onstage, or whatever. And I'm like, hello?! If I can't kiss in my own dreams, well, just when the hell can I?

The dedicated among you might notice that it is a tad early in the day for me to be awake, and you are absolutely right. I got up at 11am today (okay, 11:05) for my interview, but when I called to confirm the time, the meeting had been pushed to 3:30pm. Which was boss because I took a shower, ate cereal, and watched The View in my nice underwear and Chanel studs (y'all know which ones). It was extremely decadent, and I enjoyed every prancing minute of it.

"Kimora:LiFL" was excellent, as usual. She's trying to go green. Fabulously, of course. Let this be a lesson! If the queen of opulence can take steps to decrease her carbon footprint, so can we. I was an eco-Nazi this weekend, yelling "Lights off!" or "Dishwasher!" to family members making various infractions. It was fun. "The Game" season finale wasn't bad. Matter fact, I'm about to make a sandwich and go watch it on YouTube..."Gossip Girl" and "One Tree Hill" tonight! Go Monday TV.

Nothing too serious today so far, as you can see. Hopefully it stays that way. I painted my toenails gold while watching "Ocean's 13" over the weekend, and now I don't think I like them. They aren't sparkly enough. And that will just not do. Because at this point in my life, things like sparkly toenails and lacy underwear are just requisites.

Take Me Out to the Ball Game

It's been a few days...I really have been on that deadbeat skeez, so sorry, y'all!

I may have an internship with an underground record company. I have to go meet with them next week. The music style is a complete 180 from anything I've ever listened to, but it's experience, right? And, hopefully I will have a job soon, too, that my friend recommended I try. It's 9 bucks an hour, so hell yeah I hope I get it!

I persevered, y'all. I worked out good yesterday. Which is why I can barely move today. I want to do it again, but we may be going shopping when Mom gets home from work. And there's this pair of shoes that I really want. So "Legs and Glutes" on FitTV may just have to wait...

I downloaded Amy Winehouse's first album, "Frank,"** yesterday. Like "Back to Black," it's a damn good listen. I listened to it on repeat last night as I pored over magazines. I'm trying to find my style, as I try to every summer. Summer is that time when everybody tries to do some type of overhaul with this big ol' stretch of time, but I need some direction. When left to my own devices, things can go terribly awry. Like, I need someone to wake me up in the morning, otherwise I'll sleep 'til 3. The sad part is that I can find things to do that keep me awake at night. I was in bed at 1 last night, but due to aforementioned magazines and my Ipod, I didn't turn off the light until 3. Again, so ashamed was I.

**Best tracks so far: "I Heard Love is Blind," "Stronger Than Me," and "Take the Box." Honorary mention: "F Me Pumps." But really, the whole album's a smash.

I had a dream last night that I went on a date. We went to a little Italian joint, and I wore high heels and my black troublemaking shirt (which I didn't wear this year after I stopped talking to the Runner. Weird.) We ordered dessert to go (chocolate cheesecake. Yum-o), and made out on a couch. If a real-life date went like that one, that'd be pretty okay.

By the way, do people even go on "real" dates anymore? I think I like the idea of "outing" dates, anyway, that aren't just dinner (proponent though I am of eating). Like, me, him, and an afternoon baseball game would be so cute. Maybe that's 'cause I'm in my element at sporting events, and would be more comfortable there? Even though, he'd have to really like me to take me to a basketball game, because I am loud. That'd be a good indicator of our potential, though. If he's giving me the *side-eye* while I'm chanting "DE-FENSE, DE-FENSE!", we probably won't last very long.

Desperation is Unseemly

...although I shun to use the word "desperate." It reeks of, well, desperation.

It's a battle of wills. Who's going to make eye contact first? Who's going to say hello first? Who's going to go out on a limb and start the conversation? At this point, I just need some punctuation in this situation other than a question mark. A period, comma, an ellipses? But not a question mark.

He asked me once if it was possible to tell the truth to everyone but yourself. I responded, "Absolutely." Ironic foreshadowing. I had a dream that he told me everything that he hated about me. That was freaky. He's a few choice words but he's not really an asshole to that degree.

I'm not sad or anything right now, don't get me wrong. I'm just not particularly happy. If anything I am tired. Drained, even. I remember feeling like this awhile ago, where I was dragging along, waiting for something to happen. I kind of snapped out of it when I started talking to The Boy, but as the school year comes to a close, I think I have progressed, regressed, and come full circle all in one.

One thing I really, really, really have come to count on is the comforting presence that good friends offer. Guy friends, girlfriends, guy problems, girl problems, gossip, school crap, whatever. Good friends can make you forget your problems, and not 'cause they'll get you drunk. As soon as I walk in the door, somebody will say or do something crazy and pretty soon we'll be talking about something totally different. And when we get into dissecting the issue at hand, they will sometimes sit you down and give you at advisory slap in the face. However, back to what I was saying, all the advice in the world is no good if you're too proud to admit that you fucked up. Because if you could see what everyone else could, you would have fixed the situation in the first place. Pride is a sucky bedfellow.

On the bright side, the Pistons won! They ended the series 4-2 with a blowout road victory against the 76ers, 100-77. Next up we have the third-seeded Orlando Magic, who recently disposed of the Toronto Raptors in five. It will be interesting to see how the Pistons fare against Dwight Howard and Hedo Turkgolu. Flip Saunders will have to choose who he wants Tayshaun Prince to guard, Prince being the best defender the Pistons have. If Rasheed Wallace can contain Howard, the Pistons should be fine. Still, expect the series to go deep. Game 1 is Saturday at probably 8pm. We know where I'll be!

Hopefully I'll be watching the game with my dad, who's coming down here to help me move out. Ugh, that reminds me, I need a place to live for next year. I want someplace close to school, with my own room and a big bed (anything but a twin. We know my affinity for big beds). And wireless internet. That's honestly all I need.

KISSING. You'll have to excuse me. It's on the brain. I've gone without for the past few days. Er, no, weeks. Which, I mean, I should be used to, I guess? But still.

I Almost Forgot, yet again

The infamous bed from the Marriott in North Carolina.

I was waay on the other side, which tells you how big it was...

Of course I piled my crap on it as soon as I walked in the door!

Oh, how I miss my cushy hotel bed! Not to mention the daily maid service...

More of the Same

How You Are In Love

You fall in love quickly and easily. And very often.

You tend to give more than take in relationships.

You tend to get very attached when you're with someone. You want to see your love all the time.

You love your partner unconditionally and don't try to make them change.

You stay in love for a long time, even if you aren't loved back. When you fall, you fall hard.

Real quick, 'cause I'm on a mission.
-an 8th grade boy, Larry King, was killed after admitting he was gay. It was a hate crime; he was shot in the back of the head by a 14-year-old boy, who will be charged as an adult. King was bullied after he came out. My liberal heart hurts. Then it fills with anger that anti-gay sentiment and hate crimes are still going on.

-I had a dream that I was with people I cared about, trying to escape into London. Amy Winehouse was there, helping us out while trying to escape herself.

Sigh. I can't...I'm done. Tolerance, people, tolerance.

Leave Crocs Alone!

Lol..."Leave Crocs Alone" is a funny William Sledd video on youtube. It perfectly mirrors my sentiments about those God-awful "shoes," Crocs. Why do people wear them? Why? Do they just go, "Ooh, yeah, that outfit would look so cute with my bright orange Crocs"? Whenever I see someone wearing them, especially on campus, it makes me want to slap them. Hard.

It's over between me and the Runner. He was being a bit of an ass when I swung by today. Science Guy was asleep not 5 feet away and I didn't wanna be all in his face when he woke up (I hate it when I wake up from a nap to find that people have been watching me sleep), but Runner didn't care, he basically ignored me when I said I didn't want to stay in the room. His back was to me, and he was on his computer, so I quietly shut the door and paid it. I was turning the key to get inside my dorm about ten minutes when he called. I totally pressed "Ignore." And put "Do not call" next to his name in my phone. He's not holding up his end of the bargain, to just be someone I can turn to to put me in a good mood. Instead, his moodiness adds extra drama to my life. Therefore, he has to go. I know, so melodramatic, right? I can't help it. This situation has become a mockery of itself. Bye, Runner. Good times.

I was in a right state today. Being everyone's go-to girl, while an honor, is exhausting enough, but when people don't take your advice it makes it seem pointless and frustrating. Also, working in a male-dominated field is no easy task when ego and politic get in the way and you're the middle-woman trying to please everybody. I wish I could just be in my room for a week, no meetings, no boys, no social activities, nothing. The only thing that's actually consistent is my academics. I like the discussions that we have in my "Shakespeare" and "Renaissance Literature" classes; I feel engaged and intellectual. I've been to practically every scheduled class or meeting, which tells you how busy I am. Spring break is coming up, hopefully that will be my chance to unwind. I kind of don't want to go on a big trip; it's hella money and I don't need a guilt trip plaguing me on top of everything else.

For my viewing pleasure, here's another pic of RiRi and Chris Breezy (bossip.com). Feel the cuteness.

Whew! They look like a normal, attractive young pair. Someday, homies, y'all will spot me and my boo inadvertently looking super-adorable, and your little hearts will flutter, just as mine does when I see this "almost-couple."

I had the oddest dream two nights ago. I was last in a processional on a Viking-type boat, hands full of luggage. Then, I have to run through a wintry trail to catch up will everyone, and randomly, a pixie-cut lady appears and says, "It's not me. It's you." As if I've been chosen for something. It makes me run faster. Weird, huh? Speaking of the cosmic sphere, there was a lunar eclipse in Atlanta tonight. It was right outside. Looking up at the silvery crescent of the moon, I felt positively tiny. I didn't mind not being the center of a universe of expectations and anticipations, even if it was just for a moment.

Just Between Us

Whew. Today is finally coming to a close, which is a blessing. Just went for a quick "late-night" food run to Wendy's and Burger King. And Krispy Kreme. Girl, if sex is as good as a hot KK donut, well, damn. I had two in the backseat, they were toe-curling delish.

I am realizing the importance of loving yourself and being able to accept help if you ask for it.

I've been called fearless. I like it.

I just want to sleep. Not to sound depressed or anything, but I'm just tired! I don't have much to do tomorrow, so I might crawl into bed early tonight into blissful, abandoned sleep. Maybe because I haven't gotten that much sleep in the past few days (nights), and I have gone nowhere near the gym, either, which makes me, like, hate myself. I feel like sh*t when I don't work out.

My iPod has been doing heroic work for the past few days. Under "Recently Added" is "How You Gonna Act Like That," "Sweet Lady," and "Lately," by Tyrese, "So Anxious" and "In Those Jeans" by Ginuwine, and "Your Body" by Pretty Ricky. Theme: the 90's, duh! LOL--y'all know those 90's/2000's R&B love songs were the best...

http://youtube.com/watch?v=X922KOrdaWc

Me and Roommate were just looking at the gazillion pictures that I have online, and we realized how colossally ugly we were freshman year. Oh, we had our cute periods, but mostly it was just Ack! What the hell was I thinking/why did you hang out with me during my unfortunate hippie-skirt-over-jeans-with-a-sweatshirt phase?! But prayerfully, things have changed. My, how we laughed at those pictures. Randomly, there is not one picture of me and the Runner. But there was none of me and Tex, or "SuperBowl Boy," either (let's not go there). Oddly there's one of me and Science Guy.

Thanks to the temperamental weather, exposure, and probably a stress-related circumstance, I woke up this morning with a scratchy throat and cough that has not gone away with Rapid Blast, Advil, and cough drops. Yuck. But this raspy voice is kind of interesting...

Damn it, why can't I ever get to bed on time? It's so annoying. I have a date with Tyrese in Dreamland tonight, and now I'm gonna be late! How will I ever make it up to him??

College Ain't No Joke...of this I am sure

It's the second day of school and I am worn out. I've been outside like all day and it's hella cold. Just dropped $100 on a book, and when I called the publisher to see if I could get a cheaper edition, no one answered. If I can, I'm selling it back, ASAP.

We have to post to a blog in my "Investigation" class, and the teacher told us to think of a creative nickname, so I was like, cool. My oh, so creative classmates used names like "ycooper" or "jrobinson1." So when everyone's were listed on the projector screen, all of a sudden my chosen, "theglassesgirl,"looked a little stupid. Hopefully no one was paying that much attention; I only did to see what names people came up with, to see if anyone, you know, didn't use their Spelman username...i guess it's okay that the blog's on politics. i like to think still managed to have my own voice in my comments.

The Oreos in my drawer are rapidly disappearing, to be found in my tummy next to the (good-ass) chicken potpie I had for lunch.

I had another weird dream last night about football, sex, and HSA. Oh, and if that weren't enough, Tex had a cameo, too. I mean, those are just the basics, but holistically speaking, it was a random experience. I'll leave it at that. HSA has got to get out of my subconscious. The Tex thing I'm not even gonna touch on. I have enough to do.

Oh yeah, check it out, ya girl has an article: "Top 7 Reasons We Love Candace Parker." I told y'all I got stuff done.

Happy New Year

Happy New Year's, everybody.

Let's skip the "what i'm gonna do differently" part, or at least save it for later, shall we? Around Christmas, too close if you ask me, one of my dear friends lost her mother. i found out like 4 days later. just a horrible, awful, can't-find-an-adjective situation. i don't want to smother her so i just sent her a text, but i want to show my support. it's so hard to know what to do, what will make an impact and what won't. just a bad situation.

Last night i had an odd dream. First off, I was an Ohio State fan (just writing that pains me). Next, a very interesting person was in it. A guy from high school with whom i had more ups and downs than Cedar Point in its entirety. He played football, so I shall name him High School Athlete (working title). what was weird was that at the end of the game, him and i shared a long hug and an innuendo-filled conversation about, well, the action to which the "tongue-in-the-cheek" gesture refers (ahem). i woke up quite confused. i mean, i understand where the dream came from because before i fell asleep i had both watched the Rose Bowl and fantasized about Nate Parker, one of the actors in the movie "The Great Debaters," which was absolutely excellent, by the way. but it was weird because i hadn't thought about HSA in a long time, not since we finally made peace at the Senior All-Night Party, at around 4am under a lamppost on the side of the student parking lot. just reminiscing, here, about what was and what could have been. he was, of course, the subject of many a post on this very blog. i'm cool now, though. he's a pleasant part of my past, where he belongs.

College Bowl Week has made me crave a strapping young athlete to call my own. 'cause damn, they are fine.

Things I Like Am Obsessed With Now:
1. Janice Dickinson Modeling Agency-I need a Brian Kehoe in my life, i have decided.
2. "Love Song" by Sara Barielles-heard it on a commercial, fell in love, now it's on my Ipod (well it would be, if i could find the cord that connects the Ipod to my computer)
3. OPI Nail Polish in Russian Navy-Christmas present, makes me insanely happy and sophisticated-looking, which is always a plus.
4. Re-invention-okay, okay, maybe it's the New Year, but i really am going to try and work on not looking like such a schlub and adding more color to my wardrobe and whatnot.
5. Really, truly, happy couples-just because they are so cute to watch.

i want to get a haircut. or at least bangs and a color. or something, i need to shake things up! i have a phone interview tomorrow. i'm a little scared, my last one didn't work out. i may wear my business suit, just to get in the right mindset...
